Am sharing my favorite passage from a book I have carried around for over 30 years. It may be my oldest possession. Maybe it is time to get a new copy, eh?
Anyway... there are a lot of translations out there of this passage yet this one just speaks to me.
The invincible shield
Is a weapon from the sky
Against being dead.
The Way of Life #67 (excerpt)
I interpret this to mean at least two things. One is that life favors the sensitive; staying open and perceptive is a key ingredient for modern survival. The other thing that it says to me? At least for me, losing sight of my inter-connected reality in the world is not an option if i want to thrive. Reading this passage today inspires me to go back to the basics: sincerity, gentleness, and supportiveness (to oneself, to others and to/with life). And to stay in action.
Despite recent frequent overwhelm at the direction of things here on this beautiful planet, am reminded both not to harden my heart, and to stay with my projects and plans. How about you?
